Leila Rastegar is an Iranian born artist. Art has been her passion from the time she was young. In Iran Leila had to put her art career on hold and obtained a BS in Computer Engineering from Shiraz University. She never gave up on her dream of becoming an artist and was able to attend a private art school while working as an engineer.
In August 2001, Leila and her family moved to the United States and took residence in Fargo, North Dakota. She attended North Dakota State University majoring in Art and working at the University's gallery. She then obtained her MFA in Painting and Drawing at the University of North Dakota. Her art can be seen throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area including: West Acres Mall, Ecce Gallery, The Plains Art Museum, and at her Alma Mater's Memorial Union.
Leila's childhood dream is now her full-time job. Her style is representational with a direct, painterly approach. Leila paints with her heart and captures the soul of her Persian roots and current Midwest home. Her most recent project encompasses a series of Minnesota and North Dakota landscapes.
